As your child grows up, he becomes more independent. Once he learns to walk, he will get busy exploring his surroundings. He will take anything that catches his attention. Because his movement is relatively unrestrained, he may be able to reach harmful objects or get out the door and onto the street. To protect him from danger, somebody has to watch him constantly and follow him wherever he goes.
