What to expect right after Birth

After birth, some common procedures are administered while you’re still in the delivery room. They are
•The Umbilical Cord is Cut
•The midwife suctions the mucus from baby’s nose and mouth to allow breathing
•The baby’s condition is checked through Apgar testing (this is quick assessment of the baby’s color, hearth rate, reflex, muscle tone, and respiratory effort. The test is done twice: one minute and five minutes after birth.)
•The baby is placed in your arms
•The baby is weighed, its reflexes and footprints are checked, and its head circumference is measured.
•The baby is wrapped in soft linen (cotton blankets)
